Night Out in Austin

A NAACO conference tradition, the annual “night out” program includes finding a creative and entertaining way to expose conference attendees to the culture of our host city.

Asleep_at_the_Wheel

In Austin, few things define our culture or are celebrated more than music.  And as a special celebration of being in the Live Music Capital of the World, we’ll be treated to a private concert featuring the nine-time GrammyTM-winning, “Kings of Texas Swing," Asleep at the Wheel led by the legendary Ray Benson.  This uniquely Texas concert will take place in the heart of downtown Austin, on Willie Nelson Boulevard and at the Moody Theater, the new home of ACL Live and the iconic Austin City Limits television show.

This will be a night out in Austin that will long be remembered!

First-Time NAACO Conference Attendees Mentor Program

Mentor- A wise and trusted counselor or teacher.

For those attendees who are new to NAACO or have not attended a previous conference, a mentor program is available.  The mentor program will pair new attendees with an established member of the association.  The mentor program provides the opportunity for first time participants to establish quick relationships and gain valuable advice and guidance in getting the most out of the conference.  Those who indicate that they are a first-time attendee on their conference registration will be contacted by email prior to the conference with more information on how to participate in the program.

Conference Charity

As a way to give back to the community hosting the annual NAACO conference, the conference committee selects a local charitable organization and collects funds that are presented on behalf of association to say thank you and to give back to the community.

The 2012 NAACO Conference Charity will be The University of Texas Autism Project.  The UT Autism Project seeks to provide services, knowledge and best practices for those who work and live with children with autism, and to help create a “virtual family” of support.

The 2012 conference charity has special significance for NAACO.  This past spring, NAACO co-founder, Carol Switzer passed away.  Carol was an advocate and ally for families living with Autism.  In addition to giving back to the community, funds collected will be given in Carol’s memory to honor her life and the contributions she made to our association.
